WELCOME TO SIMMONS HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE
The Simmons Housing application/contract is a form that must be completed and submitted online. Please allow enough time to read through this carefully as this is a financially binding contract. You will not have the ability to save this form and return at a later time. Please be prepared to complete the housing form in one attempt. Additionally, the $100 housing deposit is required upon submission. The deposit goes toward the cost of your campus housing and will be applied to your student account.
ON-CAMPUS LIVING REQUIREMENT
Simmons office of Housing and Residence Life believes that student learning and personal development are strengthened when students live on campus. Therefore, all first- year full time undergraduate students under the age of 20 (by August 1 for fall semester and February 1 for spring semester), or with fewer than 30 credit hours are required to live in the residence hall.
Students 20 years of age and older are still permitted to live on campus. Please be mindful, there is limited housing availability for students older than 23 years of age.
Students may receive an exemption for:
• Residing with a local parent(s)/legal guardian within 60 miles from the campus’ mailing address.
• Sufficient evidence and Simmons’ recognition and acknowledgement of financial hardship
• Documented medical condition in which living on campus would affect a student’s health negatively.
• Married legally, Simmons does not provide housing for married couples.
• Dependent(s) (e.g., children), Simmons cannot accommodate children.
* Each and all of the recognized exemptions require evidence.
FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS
Students must be registered full-time for classes associated with the semester the student will live on campus. Students must be registered full-time by 5:00pm the Friday before the start of classes. Students who are not registered full-time after this deadline will not be allowed to move in or will be required to move off campus. Students who do not fulfill the registration requirement for on-campus living (drop below full-time status) are still financially responsible to fulfil the terms of their housing contract.
Students must fulfill financial obligations to Simmons by the assigned move-in day. Students who have entered a Simmons Payment Plan agreement, or have a balance of $500 or less, are the only exceptions that apply. If not fulfilled, the student will not be allowed to move in, or the student will be asked to move off campus.
HOUSING ASSIGNMENT TIMELINE
All continuing students must submit their housing application by April 19. You will receive your housing assignment by June 24.
For new students who may submit your application after the above timeline, please allow the office of Housing and Residence Life (5) business days to process your application and provide a housing assignment. If this processing period occurs while school is in session, the student holds the responsibility of finding alternative housing while waiting to receive a housing assignment from Simmons.
For move-in during the academic year (Spring Semester), students must submit the housing form no later than Dec 1 of the previous semester.
Contact the office of Housing and Residence Life at housing@simmonscollegeky.edu about the housing exemption process, or assistance in receiving a housing assignment.
HOUSING REFUND POLICY
Upon the completion of the first (2) weeks of the semester, the Housing Application/Contract is binding, and all residence hall fees are non-refundable. Students are financially obligated for the entire semester.
FALCON STUDENT HANDBOOK
The office of Housing and Residence Life has a section in the Falcon Student Handbook that provides a one stop shop detailing our policy, procedures, and frequently asked questions concerning campus living. Questions for which you do not find answers may be directed to housing@simmonscollegeky.edu.
