Simmons College of Kentucky announces the transition of Dr. Rick W. Smith, Sr., Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Administrative Projects, as he accepts the role of President at Dallas College Northlake in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Smith joined Simmons College’s leadership team in December 2023 and has made a lasting impact on the institution through his leadership, vision, and commitment to advancing the college’s mission.
During his tenure, Dr. Smith oversaw fundraising efforts, including laying the foundation for a significant and transformative capital campaign to be announced in 2025. He also played a key role in establishing Simmons College’s first foundation, a milestone that will support the long-term sustainability of the institution.
Simmons College President, Dr. Kevin W. Cosby, praised Dr. Smith’s contributions and his dedication to elevating Simmons saying, “Dr. Rick Smith brought a strategic focus and tireless energy to Simmons College of Kentucky. His efforts in institutional advancement have helped to set the stage for unprecedented growth and opportunity for our students, faculty, and the entire community. Dr. Smith reflected on his time at Simmons College and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve: “It has been an incredible honor to be part of Simmons College of Kentucky, an institution deeply committed to transforming lives and empowering future generations. I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together and will continue to champion Simmons’ mission as I step into this new opportunity at Dallas College Northlake.”
