Simmons College of Kentucky, in partnership with ElderServe, held the Simmons Senior Tech Hub Fall Celebration on November 15, 2024, at the College’s Administration and Library Building in Louisville. The event celebrated the achievements of the six senior citizens who graduated from the Fall 2024 Senior Tech Hub program and highlighted the impact of the digital literacy workshops led by Simmons Technology Scholars, who were awarded prestigious scholarships. Launched in August 2024, the program offered free, curriculum-based workshops to senior citizens, covering topics such as online safety, mobile device navigation, accessing government websites, and using technology for healthcare. The bi-weekly sessions empowered seniors to bridge the digital divide and confidently use technology in their daily lives.
The celebration underscored Simmons College’s commitment to digital inclusion and lifelong learning for Louisville’s senior community. “Every session with the senior citizens at ElderServe was electrifying,” said Justin Damis, a Simmons sophomore and Technology Scholar. “The ElderServe guests are amazing to work with and exude wisdom, confidence, and positivity towards technology!” The event highlighted the ongoing partnership between Simmons College and ElderServe in their shared mission to foster digital literacy and empower seniors in the community.
