Simmons College of Kentucky is committed to supporting the whole student—mind, body, and spirit. This February, we invite our campus community to take part in a series of engaging events designed to foster mental wellness, meaningful connection, and community building. From honest conversations to moments of restoration and brotherhood, these gatherings create space to pause, recharge, and connect.
Check-In & Chop It Up: The Mental Health Huddle
February 9 | Open to All Staff & Students
Join us for Check-In & Chop It Up: The Mental Health Huddle, a facilitated conversation led by Kamari Wooten and Royce Jones of REAL MEN, REAL TALK Louisville. This session offers a welcoming and judgment-free space for real conversations about mental health, stress, and everyday life.
Participants are encouraged to come as they are—to decompress, connect with others, and feel heard. Whether you want to share, listen, or simply be present, this huddle centers honesty, support, and community care.
“Brotha, Take a Breath”
February 12 | Open to All Staff & Students
Take a moment to slow down and reset with “Brotha, Take a Breath,” facilitated by Angelica Williams, a certified yoga instructor. This session focuses on self-care and stress relief through guided movement and mindfulness practices.
Designed to support restoration of the mind, body, and soul, this experience invites participants to step away from daily pressures and prioritize wellness in a calm and supportive environment.
The Brotherhood Game Night
February 13 | Simmons Students Only
Simmons students are invited to close out the week with The Brotherhood Game Night, hosted by Simmons student leaders. This event combines friendly competition, laughter, and fellowship in a relaxed setting designed to strengthen bonds and build community.
More than just a game night, this gathering celebrates connection and camaraderie—creating space for students to unwind, build relationships, and engage in community the Black male way.
