Simmons College of Kentucky has been awarded a $60,000 grant from the Laughing Gull Foundation (LGF). LGF’s Higher Education in Prisons grantmaking initiative is dedicated to reversing the trend of mass incarceration while affirming the humanity, capacity, and potential of currently incarcerated individuals.
“We are committed to expanding access to high-quality education in prisons and strengthening support for BIPOC-led initiatives. Our grantees are dedicated to breaking down barriers and ensuring equitable access to transformative educational opportunities within prison walls. Together, we’re building a future where incarcerated people can improve their lives, open new doors and pathways post-release, and remain free and thriving,” said Dr. LaTonya Penny, Chief Executive of the Laughing Gull Foundation.
This grant underscores Simmons College’s commitment to providing transformative educational opportunities and creating pathways for a brighter future for all.
