Neophyte Presentation
On Friday, April 11, 2025, at approximately 7:22 p.m., Simmons College of Kentucky celebrated a historic milestone with the official return of Greek Life to its campus. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (ΣΓΡ) has made history as the first Black Greek Letter Organization (BGLO) to call Simmons College home. This moment marks a significant cultural and institutional step forward for the historically Black college.
The presentation of the new members took place in front of the Administration and Library (A&L) Building, where students, faculty, staff, and fellow members of the Greek community gathered in celebration. The event symbolized both a revival of tradition and a re-commitment to the legacy of service, scholarship, and sisterhood.
This is monumental for Simmons College of Kentucky. BGLOs are deeply rooted in the culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and have long played a vital role in cultivating leadership, service, and unity among Black students. The return of Greek Life to Simmons represents progress and expansion, aligning with the college’s vision for continued growth and cultural vibrancy.
