We are proud to share that Christopher Smith, Director of Choral Activities at Simmons College of Kentucky, has once again been invited to conduct the Juneteenth Jubilee Choir, as part of Kentucky Opera’s Juneteenth celebration. This marks the second consecutive year that Christopher has been chosen to lead this powerful and diverse ensemble, a reflection of his inspiring leadership and talent.

This year’s Juneteenth celebration, “Amplify: Songs of Justice,” is presented by Kentucky Opera in partnership with the Louisville Metro Juneteenth Jubilee Commission (JJC). The concert will take place on June 19, 2025, at 7:00 PMat the Kentucky Opera Center for Cultural Health (708 Magazine Street, Louisville, KY 40203). It is free and open to the public.
In an exciting addition, the Simmons College Ambassador Chorale has been invited to perform as guest artists during this special event—a significant milestone for the college’s newly formed choral program. Their inclusion speaks volumes about the talent, spirit, and growth of Simmons’ music community.
