SGA APPLICATION

  • ARTICLE I - PURPOSE
    The Student Government Association is the official representative of the student body of Simmons College of Kentucky.
    The purposes of the SCKY SGA are to:
    • To represent the welfare and interests of the student body and the College.
    • To facilitate communication and dialogue among students, faculty, staff, administration, and alumni in matters affecting the welfare of the student body.
    • To promote academic excellence, good moral and ethical practices.
    • To provide opportunities for the development of superior character and leadership ability among its members.
    • To exercise the prerogatives and the responsibilities of student government as provided in this Constitution and Bylaws in cooperation with the administration of the College.
    • To give students an active voice in the governance of Simmons College of Kentucky.
    • To play a lead role in planning activities which are of recreational, social, and developmental interest to the student body.
    • To encourage accountability to the policies of integrity and excellence.
    • To foster community and strive to make improvements in all areas of College life.
  • President

    The President shall: Preside over all general assemblies unless he/she designates otherwise. Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Simmons College of Kentucky. Serve as liaison between student body and school administration of Simmons College of Kentucky. Represent the SCKY SGA in the community, district and state. Preside over all SCKY SGA meetings, unless otherwise directed. Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees. Appoint any vacant positions of SCKY SGA. Insure that all SCKY SGA officers fulfill duties as stated in the Constitution and Bylaws.
  • Vice President

    The Vice President shall: Be empowered to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the President in his/her absence. Assist the President in general policy and administration. Represent the SCKY SGA in the community, district and state.
  • Treasurer

    The Treasurer shall: Keep track of dues paid by SCKY SGA officers and members. Keep an accurate record of all monies collected and disbursed. Present a report at all meetings of the SCKY SGA budget. Deposit all monies to the Finance Department of Simmons College of Kentucky to the SGA account. Must have an overall GPA of 2.5 at the time of their nomination. Must be registered as a full-time student at Simmons College of Kentucky both during nomination and term of office. Must have a minimum of 12 (twelve) credit hours completed at the time of nomination.
  • Secretary

    The Secretary shall: Keep all records of the SCKY SGA on file. Keep all minutes of SCKY SGA meetings. Keep a sign in sheet for all members at all meetings and events.
  • Chaplain

    The Chaplain shall: Serve as devotional leader for all meetings (with the power to appoint others to assist). Must be registered as a full- time student at Simmons College of Kentucky both during nomination and term of office. Must have a minimum of 12 (twelve) credit hours completed at the time of nomination. Work in spiritual Ministry on the student level
  • Sargent at Arms

    The Sargent at Arms shall: Maintain order in meetings with a basic understanding of "Roberts Rules." Must have an overall GPA of 2.5 at the time of their nomination. Must be registered as a full-time student at Simmons College of Kentucky both during nomination and term of office. Must have a minimum of 12 (twelve) credit hours completed at the time of nomination.
  • Social Media

    Be responsible for promoting the activities of SCKY SGA. Informing the student body about SGA’s activities and initiatives. Managing all SCKY SGA social media accounts by keeping them updated with upcoming events, news and information, post event photos, etc. Must have an overall GPA of 2.5 at the time of their nomination. Must be registered as a full-time student at Simmons College of Kentucky both during nomination and term of office.
  • Historian

    Document and revise Simmons History as it develops for our student Body to understand the rich history of our school. Assist in developing the key spirit filled information to give the students a point of pride and love for the school.

  • These are adult unisex sizes.
  • Must have a minimum of 12 (twelve) credit hours completed at the time of nomination.
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at Simmons College of Kentucky both during nomination and term of office.
  • You may run for more than one position HOWEVER you may only be elected to serve in ONE POSITION.
  • Answer all that apply, if you are a freshman you may refer to "High School Experiences".
